Words From the Owner

“In 1999, when the campground land was put up for sale, I was working in scientific research at Dalhousie University in Halifax and running a small vineyard in Kempt Shore. After purchasing the land, we began clearing and leveling it. That summer, a musician friend toured the property and remarked, ‘What a perfect place to hold a Bluegrass Festival.’ From that moment, we never looked back.
The Bluegrass Festival ran successfully for 13 years. In 2003, we decided to broaden our scope and launched the Acoustic Maritime Music Festival, showcasing original Canadian music with a focus on Atlantic Canada. The festival, now 22 years old in 2025, has hosted hundreds of singer-songwriters and helped launch several musical careers.
The campground was initially set up as an event space, but with encouragement from Nova Scotia Tourism, it became a registered seasonal campground. Today, it remains a place where people come to enjoy music, nature, and community on one of Nova Scotia’s most picturesque shorelines.”
